Agricultural History has just published my review of Andrew Watson’s Making Muskoka: Tourism, Rural Identity, and Sustainability, 1870–1920 (UBC Press, 2023). This book seriously fanned my love for rural history as a historical subfield. I also really appreciated how it reframes sustainability as a subject for historical inquiry.
