New article: “A Grammar of Modern Exploration,” Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences 56, no. 1 (2026)

Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences has just published a short piece of mine, “A Grammar of Modern Exploration,” in a special section entitled “Historical Practice.” The piece reflects on how I had to develop new conceptual language in A Cold Colonialism to fully capture the (colonial) nuances of modern, or twentieth-century exploration.
